After leaving San Jose, it was back to the Caribbean coast to a little place nearly at the bottom of Costa Rica. Called Puerto Viejo de Talamanca, everyone just calls it just Puerto Viejo. We lucked in with another gorgeous place to stay, Hotel Pura Vida . It has rooms around a tranquil courtyard on the ground floor and up one level. It is a mixture of dark wood paneling and white walls with cane seats, wood tables, hammocks, golden lamps and candles, tropical flowers in clear glass vases wit...
Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica nancydebHi All, After a ten hour bus journey, we made it to Cahuita. A quiet resort on the Caribbean coast. We stayed in some cabinas called Brisas Del Mar, which was the best accomodation yet. Big rooms in a nice little garden next to the ocean. There are two local beaches, Playa Negra and Playa Blanca. Playa Blanca is in the nation park. Golden sand beach with a trail next to the woods that runs parallel to the beach where howler monkeys and sloths skip through the tree tops. We spent a day on the ...
Cahuita, Costa Rica rlphillips... both decided to save money, we would cook for ourselves for a bit... as we are already over budget (which I had been saying for weeks and stressing each time we did something slightly expensive) but now Al is being a complete Nazi about money!! (which is a good thing... we just dont want to be short for Christmas!)
WE woke up to rain, torrential rain, so we eventually braved it and got soaked walking to the supermarket for some supplies ...
... to the highway we needed to be on. So, I got the idea, why not just drive up the embankment onto the highway? I didn't want to go back as getting lost is VERY easy to do, no signs leads to landmark directions and if you don't see the same landmark twice, well, you are lost. It worked, I gave the car heck and up the embankment we went. Once traffic had cleared and we were able to go left on this busy highway ...
Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica rfritzjr... Bocas del Toro in Costa Rica). I guess i'm just bored of **** Americans surfer banter (there was plenty about) and a bit jaded after seeing so many nice beach towns. If i came here on a 2 week vacation from work, i'd be chuffed. On a long term trip, where i'd seen so many awesome things, it's going to take a bit more to impress me. Sorry Puerto Viejo.
On the bus i met a German guy (who'd obviously robbed a bank ...
... them tell each other apart, as both sexes of this species have internal genitalia. Females of both species give birth to only one offspring at a time; gestation for Bradypus is about six months, while for Choloepus it's eleven months and one week. Of all adult sloths, only the female Bradypus (such as Buttercup) has a mating call-a human-like scream. The male Bradypus makes a crying sound when attacked by another male competing for a female in heat. In ...
Cahuita, Province of Limon, Costa Rica espriseme... handmade leather sandals, some gifts, and stuff for myself. We were also all incredibly bored and realized that there was a First Baptist Church in town, so we decided to attend their service, which luckily was in English. The church was so primitive, it was a little concrete rectangle and there was no stained glass or anything elaborate. The congregation consisted of maybe 15 people, and the preacher was a woman ...
Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica bell.costarica... film - this can be summed up in 3 words - dont see it. It was bad, really bad. Back at the hostel i was expecting something for the extra $2 this hostel was costing but no. You couldnt upload photos on the computers, you couldnt bring food or drink into the hostel, the food they served was overpriced and wouldnt feed a small child and despite being busy the bar shut at midnight. It was my last night travelling with Dan. It had been a fun 2 weeks but i was headed to the coast and ...
Bastimentos, Panama mkreisen... on every rock! Then got taken on an afternoon minivan to Puerto Viejo, a little afro-caribbean town on the southeast coast of C.R. Accommodation of choice was a place called Rocking J´s, a huge hostel on the beach where you could sleep in hammocks or tents. Timing was a bit rough though, was stuck there over semana santa when the town got crushed with ...
