... to see more of Montevideo's highlights compared to the walking tour, although we didn't learn much about the history of the country.

Following this we walked around the old town in search of a national history museum which was unfortunately all in Spanish and although my Spanish was at a moderate level at this stage, there was no way I was understanding much of what was going on.

... and did so by creating neighborhoods for certain immigrant groups, always including an ethnic church and school. These neighborhoods today give an international flavor to the city. We saw Armenian, Italian, German, British,Russian,Jewish, Spanish and many other neighborhoods all living together peacefully. The homes reminded me of some of the neighborhoods in Miami Beach. The city is well maintained, with some grafitti but no slum areas.
