Strbske pleso Vysoke Tatry, Presov, Slovakia
We made a short stop in Brezno, Slovakia. We were planning on staying at a campsite about 30 minutes outside the small town of Brezno. Now when you get 30 minutes OUTSIDE of a small town...your pretty much in the middle of nowhere! We drove down a country road up to the campsite. Well after driving around the chickens and the goat we realized the campsite was really just a guys backyard. We were tempted to stay for the goats sake ...
Brezno, Banska Bystrica, Slovakia ktchrisThe Tatra Mountains are the natural border between Poland and Slovakia, and there has always been this question of which part is more beautiful. The secret is as follows: they are too different to compare. The Polish part is full of people, noise, activities, shops and festivals. The Slovakian part is quiet, peaceful and almost virgin-like, despite its well-developed infrastructure. It's simply because it's much ...
Tatranska Lomnica, Presov, Slovakia translucent... I haven't ridden a horse since Girl Scouts and Brian never has. Turns out, he would be walking us. It was a little embarrassing...this guy walking 2 giant horses with 2 giant people on the back of them. I felt like we were at a carnival or something. But regardless it was awesome. He took us through some back trails and into the woods and pastures. It has rained the night before so it was super muddy. I few times I thought my ...
Zdiar, Presov, Slovakia unbound... with jacuzzi but, nonetheless, it still has the atmosphere of a small hamlet nestled at the foot of the mountains.
So as not to come out too biased, let me describe briefly the biggest drawback of Bukowina Tatrzańska, which is its location. It is situated on the hills, and thus no street is horizontal. If you want to go anywhere, you should take into account that at least one way you'll be climbing up. It's a problem if ...
... one meets on the road are so pretentious about how and where they have already traveled…it’s as if it is a competition to see who is a more hardcore traveler, and there is often a great deal of animosity. I will not deny that I have felt this way at times, too; I certainly have felt wiser than other travelers when I see them entering a swanky hotel that costs twenty times what I am paying. It’s not fair to feel this way ...

... www.gingermonkey.eu/ (there's also an adorable picture of Wally their dog as well). I so could have done it but decided against it as not to make a spectacle of myself... my mother raised a better daughter :,) Anyway, it was just what we needed and I would highly recommend anyone who goes over that way (as you do, just head off to Europe whenever you get the chance, hehe) to make a visit. It is also a fantastic place to go in the ...
Zdiar, Presov, Slovakia megantrentNas prvy den na dovolenke okolo Slovenska. Vcera vecer sme vyrazili z Blavy smerom ku Tatram, pretoze nasa prva zastavka je pod Belianskymi Tatrami v Zdiari. Cestou sem sme uplne zazracne stretli na pumpe vo Svite Fera Kysela, ktory nam porozpraval o svojej dovolenke na Balkane. Ferove dovolenky teda nie su nikdy nuda a na jeho pribehoch sme sa ...
Zdiar, Presov, Slovakia mozi... Slovakia towards the Nisky Tatry and Slovensky Raj were spectacular though, and it felt as if we looking down on the townships from the clouds. Upon reaching Skalnate Pleso we gazed up at the tiny gondola making it's way up to the observatory on Lomnicky Stit, the second highest mountain in the Tatras at 2634m. It would have been great to have gone all the way up, but it was no cheap exercise, and given the time it would take we probably would have ...
Vysoke Tatry, Slovakia will... see something, the area turned out to be really quite gorgeous. Dumbier is 2043m high, so most of the mountainsides are still covered with vegetation and forests in the lower regions, yet there are still significant peaks visible and accessible. The one full day we had in the park has to be the most demanding one day hike I have ever done, and I wasn't even carrying much! Setting off at a very reasonable 8.30, we started by climbing to the peak of Dumbier. To say the views were ...
