To break up the travel time from Krakow to Budapest, we were taken off the beat path to the Tatras, a high mountain range in Slovokia that is a hiking and skiing mecca. Armed with our sporty leggings and lack of climbing gear suitable for snow conditions we had to quickly change plans and redesign our route out of Poland. ... designated fit for work died within six months from the the hard work, disease and starvation. The Nazis kept all their possessions for redistribution to Germans and after the Germans were defeated there were huge warehouses of these possessions found at Auschwitz. There was even 2 tons of human hair which is on display in one of the buildings.
