Golfito, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica
... down the road. A miracle that no one was hurt there, but it looked like it was just the ariel that as damaged. I swear it was the biggest thunder clap I have ever heard. It sounded like a bomb was being dropped right outside and my ear rang for about 20 minutes afterwards. For a small country Costa Rica has BIG weather!

The next day we headed to San Jose on the early morning bus, nine hours away and from there we would get another bus to the Border and cross into Nicaragua... home of colonial towns and volcanoes.
Puerto Jimenez, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica mardow... soda (cafe) I was in. It fell at my feet. I picked it up, walked a few steps and threw it into the air. It fluttered away very slowly and landed a few yards away. Five minutes later, it flew back and landed on my head. I need a few days to write a nice entry for my time in Dos Brazos. Stay tuned.
Golfito, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica ats2bad... Its all still really as it would have been years ago, very little development of any type. Nice to see some of the real Costa Rica. As its still not really high season there aren't many tourists about, I think we saw maybe 10 European / American faces all day, and this is the main hub of the Osa Peninsula. The early evening was spent up to our knee's in the stream that runs down to the Ocean. It's absolutely ...
Corcovado National Park, Province of Puntarenas, Costa Rica chris.parker... to hold myself tight with both hands), once that you are in the rocks protected in a minimal way of the ways, but protected, you have to head in the opposite direction to the one that you were coming and surf a wave with the boat all along the wide of the river, and then once that you are in the other side, move quickly enough to the part where the waves have not foam on the top. I swear that does not matter if you got religion or not you just pray for that engine no to stop under ...
Corcovado National Park, Costa Rica javierferrin... around in his shockless van, passing cars on blind corners going about 70km and dodging rock slides I realize why the mountain was named that. Arriving in Golfito I was a little confused. I had pictured something completely different in my mind as to what the work site was going to be like. It was over grown with weeds, half built and a bit wrecked from ******* vandals ...
Golfito, Costa Rica gonesurfin... my amusement when, the next morning at sunup, the same refrigerator came floating by with the flood tide. Ahhhh... Puntarenas. So we hightailed it out of there and overnighted at Los Suenos, in competition for the best marina on the Pacific Coast (and undoubtedly the most expensive). The facilities are ...
Golfito, Costa Rica wmdkim... would be lounging out on the awesomest beach ever! the sand was so white and the water was soooo clear, we just spent the whole afternoon baking in the sun and floating in the water, allowing the slight waves to crash over us with our ears in the water listening to the crackle of the shells along the floor. it really is amazing here!!! the next day however was not so enjoyable!! we decided it was time to leave seeing how now we had ...
Quepos, Manual Antonio and Playa Dominical, Costa Rica maiamuffin... but noone got sick) so that was good, but it was still hot and humid as hell. Corcovado is the last piece of pacific rainforest left in central America, but it is a good chunk. It has all of the big mammals, peccaries (smell worse than anything you can imagine), tapirs (horse relatives), and all of the cats in CR. Some people saw a puma. I missed it. Oh well. I did catch my first lizards though, which was awesome, confirming the title of "A ...
Las Cruces, Costa Rica prunier... few ones we saw were barely 50 cm small, slightly disappointing! We left that unspoilt corner of tropical paradise in the middle of the night, heading off to Golfito, our last stop in Costa Rica. The boat leaves at 1:00am (thankfully it's Chantal's watch so I don't have to get up, well that's what I thought!) and after a few strange noises, the engine suddenly stops at 2:15 am. No wind. No engine. A few minutes and swear words later we're on deck trying to set the sails in ...
Golfito, Costa Rica sebchant... was cooking and wouldn't have to go out looking for dinner. It was sort of symbolic - the rain crescendoed as the meal was prepared and finally eatenb - it was quite a spectacle - I was your Emeril/Ian Hewitson on the water front cookingup a storm - although not quite so fat or loud. The sky continued to light up and thunder as I went to bed at around 9pm or so - not much else to do around here really.
