Our trip to Panama started with a surprise at Miami airport. We arrive, flight confirmation in hand to be told by the American Airlines person that we had a confirmation but no ticket. After some confusion, they said we needed to head over to the BA desk (who issued or round the world ticket) to sort it out. As Tom started to run to the other side of the airport, the airline check in person, casually told me he needed to rush, as the flight was soon! I shot her a look ...

Panama is hot. Not that that is a shock to anyone, but it's hot and humid like Costa Rica, and I now remember that feeling of walking outside and immediately dripping with perspiration. Night time is a bit better, at least with the sun down. It's stuffy both in terms of the weather and some of its people. I've come across some very nice people, but also some not-as-nice. Again, a difference from Costa Rica where everyone ...

... Panama City. The area is in the middle of a revitalization. Next door to a beautiful renovated hotel (like the one where we ate breakfast), a building will look like it just survived a war. We ate a delicious meal at the American Trade Hotel. Sitting in the sun-filled dining room, eating papaya and nearly-orange egg yolks, talking with my excited and happy family, I truly ...
