... to Barichara and went out to dinner at an Italian restaurant.
Today we packed our bags once again and took another hour bus ride to Chicamocha National Park, the second largest canyon in the world to the Grand Canyon. We climbed to the top of a tower where you could see the whole canyon. The funny part about the national park is that almost none of it was about the actual park. There were stores ...

The other thing which we clearly reaffirmed in San Gil, is that the Lonely Planet is an awful guidebook and is full of ****. We stupidly took their advice for somewhere to stay (in fact their top pick) – and it was awful. It has been about as good as useless in Colombia, so it might be time to throw it out.

Next stop is the Caribbean Coast, but unfortunately there is another long, overnight bus ride to endure first!

Estancia Los Remansos, Calle 20 No. 8-49, Tel: (57-7) 6253202. I spent my first night staying at this friendly family run guest house which is located just of the Plaza. The host, Anna is very pleasant and was always offering coffee or freshly squeezed juice – gratis! The setting is in a typical colonial family home around a refreshing courtyard with colourful tables ...
