... dinner and headed out to explore the carnival has finished, a curfew of 10pm seemingly imposed. We have no complaints as our room looks out towards the beach so the new found silence will be welcome for sleep. We take an evening stroll nevertheless, finding the whole area to be shutting up shop - no late night drinking dens here.

Sometimes (ok, fine, every other day) she needs a blueberry cheesecake in her life.

Well still no wifi connection since Pune but I thought I'd better try to capture some of the south India leg of the journey. Got off the plane and Nancy, her aunt, and cousin were waiting at the front of doors when I came out. I liked her right away. She has been sweet and funny and makes sure to keep me in her sight at all times. We headed out I the steamy heat of Kochi (Nancy says it is winter so cool - ha) and drove to Alleppy. It was supposed to take 2 hours but ended ...

... and backs! They are amazing animals. This evening we also went to a cultural show which gave a demonstration of the south Indian art form of Kathakali, including an introduction to the style and a short one hour (normal performances are 6-7 hours long!) demonstration. It was very interesting, with the all-male cast of actors only allowed to dance and use facial expressions, leaving the vocal parts to ...
