Our time in Tartu started well when I realised that the bus was going closer to our hostel than the bus station is, so we jumped off at the next bus stop and saved ourselves the walk. The hostel we are in boasts Green credentials, and is made up of almost entirely recycled and reused furniture, etc. This leads to interesting hooks, shower doors and fittings. Things got better when we walked across town shortly afterwards ...

... by the Hanseatic League, the Baltic based medieval international trading guild, to transport cargo up and down the rivers of the region. I boarded the boat along with about 20 Estonian women of various ages and 2 Estonian men. We set off and I was hoping we’d first go upstream away from the city and through what looked like more natural landscape. But the captain turned the boat around and went downstream and through the city. But it was good getting a view of Tartu from the river. ...

... to it. At that size, I decided to skip any appetizer, opting for the pork fillets which were a tad overdone but with a nice sauce. Sat with Yank John opposite and Sarah kitty corner; hadn't said boo to her all trip. Travel consumed most of the discourse. Simona said the place was a bit touristy but it's a Tartu institution and was worth the visit. For the portions of food, it was good value 17.

... companies divided the sales zones as follows: A. Le Coq Ltd. got South- Estonia and Saku Brewery North-Estonia. So, although the agreement expired between the two companies, Saku is still the northern beer and A. Le Coq is the southern beer.

I have tried both and I have to say A. Le Coq is the winner. It has more flavor and I just think it's overall a better beer. And that's not just because I'm a official Tartu resident! ...
