... a number of bars that offered the option of 'buying a lady a drink'. Not a specific, real lady of course. Instead the buying of this drink offered lonely men the opportunity for a member of staff to hang around, take a couple of sips, laugh at their jokes and then wander off, coming back again if another expensive lady drink was purchased. ... I left Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam behind me. I bided farewell to the beautiful countries, friendly people, the sunshine, the culture, the toilets (!), and the cold showers! I thank the people I met along the way, the one I travelled with for opening my eyes to new experiences and helping me not to be such a ‘scaddy cat’ all the time.
