And so after a long flight - 12+ hours - we arrived in Paris, grabbed a quick drink and then on to Birmingham. Unfortunately, Pat's suitcase decided to stop off in Paris but will hopefully be delivered tomorrow! Back to a sunny UK, with a temperature not much cooler than Hanoi yesterday, where the blossom is in full swing. Lots of memories of a lovely holiday. ...

Unfortunately, as we left the M6 there was a huge tail back where we needed to go, presumably due to an accident.. We sat in it for a while, moving 100yds in 10 mins. ... which has a room set up as the commander’s office, and we were able to go into what was the library, another reception room, and the ballroom for a look – it has beautiful wooden linenfold panelling, big light windows, pretty plaster ceiling, and the main stairway has lovely carvings and big marble pillars. It would have been a great place to visit in its day, the family which built it was big in the community so it would ...

... our British Isle coach tour at 6.30 the next

I had good reason to be concerned about Pete’s sore throat –
he has passed it on to me and I have it with a vengeance with no voice, runny
nose and sneezes. And none of Leonie’s
famous medicine to help. With no effort
at all, I should be able to pass it on to our fellow passengers on the tour.
