... judging by the way she spoke to the other person. Luckily that was not the case and she guaranteed us someone would show up, but she said to walk slowly as it would take a few minutes for them to come. By the time we got back to the hotel the gentleman was already there and was very kind about the whole situation. We lugged our bags up the tiniest spiral staircase, open the door and collapsed. Needless to say, we were beyond exhausted.

... set around a tree-filled green square of grass. This is an old convent, built in the 13th century. Further up the canal, we bumped into a couple of churches, right opposite to each other. And just up the road was the huge St Salvador Cathedral. Weaving back and forth over the bridges, we ended up in the Hof Arents gardens. There are nice parks in the southern side of the old town (which is the end of the boat tour). I can imagine how crowded these parks will be in summer time. Brugges is the wonderful mixture of France, England and Holland. Even in the freezing rain, I helplessly fall in love with this city.
