... sea calmed down and we saw some more amazing views. The port was also beautiful (which I think is rare), with seals swimming everywhere. Again, the weather was perfect. Driving through Picton, we went straight onto Kaiteritiri. This is one of the most expensive areas in NZ to buy a house, and we could see why. The beaches were incredible (actually rated as some of the best in the world). Although the place was clearly geared towards the summer ...

... center before heading back to the car and getting on our way north again. We followed the rugged coastline to our next stop, which was recommended by a friend who had had her engagement photos taken here: Truman Track. ... right near us. It rounded off a fun day on the water! The day of kayaking may have ended but our biggest challenge was still to come: putting up a tent. By following the step by step instructions I managed to erect it before it was dark. Just. I really should know better having attended cubs and beavers! There was no issue about cooking our food around the campfire due to Chelsea's idea of cooking loads of pasta the previous night. Great decision. With the ...

... our non premium double room, we unpacked and headed out to explore the town, as well as get a few supplies. Westport was also a gold mining town so we also had our eyes peeled on the way for any shiny objects. The town was small, but did have it's own brewery, where you could buy beer in a 2 litre plastic bottle. After finding a supermarket, New World this time round, we got a few bits and bobs that were needed. Maureen's chocolate had run out and ...
