... in the house. I did it for about 8 months (mum had bought me a spider catcher for Christmas which definitely helped). Don't get my wrong, I couldn't sleep with one in the room but I would try and catch it! We stopped at Charleston with the aim of seeing the glow worms in the caves by kayak, but we had no internet to check timings and missed out by 10 minutes. Mitchell also had a play on the piano in the activity room and it was so out of tune - without doubt the worst sounding piano I have ever heard. Some keys were whole tones out of whack. I kind of wished I had my piano tuning tools with me that Dad passed onto me last year.

... truly is. And perhaps it's because my experience mirrors so many others who have had the chance to travel like this, and I know experience is the same as theirs. You inexplicably run into the same people throughout your travels, and even after just a few days you feel like you've known them forever. And suddenly you have an entire community of new friends from all over the world. Let's hope for better weather so I don't get all philosophical and melodramatic ...
Not much to report today .... feet a tad sore after yesterday's effort and it rained a lot, so we spent quite some time in Westport Library where it was warm and dry and the chairs were comfy.
Drove through the Buller Gorge to a DOC campsite just before Murchison. Just made a quick spaghetti sauce, which was exactly what we felt like. Really good on a cold night.
