Havenlee Homestay Westport

Well yesterday the weather was dreadful and we were driving down to see a glazier and went over some sleeping policemen bumps which were really viscious. There was an almighty clunging sound which was the water containers brackets falling off. We managed to finf a mechanic who has done a temporary repair cos a proper repair would involve taking the van practically apart so we will see how that goes!! We didnt get as far as we had planned but no problem as thety say here ...

We got up early and Zoe made me breakfast in bed, and gave me my pressies! I was sad to not be at home for my birthday but Zoe still spoiled me. We were on the bus all day and were heading for an industrial town called Westport. Ueberall tropfte Wasser von der Decke oder lief die Waende herunter. Man musste sich manchmal ganzschoen klein machen oder duenn um noch ein Stueck weiter zu kommen. ... we headed to Lake Mahinuapua to the poo pub which had receieved much critical acclaim from all previous travellers I knew. Pumped with excitement for the night ahead, I was completely gutted when the stomach cramps I'd been having all day developed into full blown flu like sickness. I was reseigned to my bad, utterly disappointed everytime one of the group drunkenly returned to check on how I was doing. Needless to say everyone else seemed to have a good night!!

... about 1/2 of a mile out and the water came up only to your knees. I kept stepping on sand-dollars. Literally, everywhere I stepped was right on top of them. Are they alive? - Learned that the Auckland area was formed from 48 different volcanoes. Climbed the tallest one twice, Mt. Eden (the volcano we were staying next to). Mt. ... and the hour cycle back to the hostel!!!!!!!!!!! i nearly didnt make it, i was completely exhausted and dont know how my legs kept me cycling the 11kms back!!!! but i was really proud that i did it and got to see them! only guess what?!?! the next day when the bus picked me up to go to punakaiki, we stopped at the seal colony didnt we!!!! hahahaha and only did the 10 min walk from the other side to get to see them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but oh well, i got to see them ...

Hello Everyone!! From leaving sunny Nelson in the North we headed down to a sleepy little town o Westport - famous for absolutely nothing!! We decided that we needed to start hammering out emails for future plans and catching up with people and to sun ourselves before heading back to the big freeze in Blighty. As nearly all of our great plans go - this one was no different! As soon as we reached Wesport the heavens opened, non stop! So that knocked our sunbathing ...

... on a Sunday. Therefore, we did what any God fearing Irish girls would do.... bought beer. Back we went to the campsite, set up our little picnic table and foldable chairs at the back of the van and had ourselves a picnic! Toasting marshmallows, crisps, beer. What more could a girl want?! we had such a giggle too. ... fertige Fliege schluepft. Diese hat wieder ein Problemchen. Sie hat keinen Mund! Verhungert also binnen 3 Tagen. Was wuerdet ihr also machen, wenn ihr wisst, dass es in 3 Tagen mit Euch vorbei ist. Richtig! Poppen! Und zwar ordentlich! Die Weibchen legen dann noch schnell ihre befruchteten Eier und versuchen dann ans Tageslicht zu fliegen, landen also zumeist in der Futterkette ihrer Cousins und Cousinen, da sie in deren Glibberfaeden klebenbleiben. <br><br ...
