      ... was a guy named dan, who funnily enough comes from nz too, but has been in Switzerland for the past 15 years, he is originally from nelson! How small is the world?!       ... vehicles. On the other side of town we caught the train to Grutschalp above Lauterbrunnen and transferred to the cable car into the town centre.
      Kat and Mark joined us for dinner, which was a full turkey and trimmings meal in celebration of the upcoming new year. JJ proved that he is on the mend by exercising his arm with the toys we had in the crackers!
      We are expecting fireworks and church bells at midnight so we are looking forward to the new year ...

      ... was lived in until 1964! Seriously, thatch roof, kitchen that was designed to NOT have ventilation because the smoke cured the wood, and the animals were just below the sleeping quarters! We saw their distillery, the bread baking building and most importantly, the flour mill. We were really impressed!

      ... valley to Lauterbrunnen, the main town just over the Clift side from Murren.

      Everything is so green. Unlike the Colorado mountains, there are huge grassy meadows that are well watered from all of the precipitation. A ribbon of a waterfall pours over the edge of a cliff above Lauterbrunnen and right into the town. Waterfalls flow over the cliff walls on both sides of the valley.
