Haus Luxus Mayrhofen

Gisteren, 21 januari, is het de hele dag zwaar bewolkt geweest en heeft het de meeste tijd ook licht gesneeuwd. Wij hebben er een luie dag van gemaakt. We zijn het hotel niet uitgeweest maar hebben gelezen, gezwommen, zijn in de sauna geweest, … het was een rustig dagje.

Gisteren was er prachtig weer voorspeld en zou het in de namiddag volledig uitklaren. Meer dan een zeldzaam straaltje zon hebben we echter niet gezien. Gisteren zijn we gaan skiën in het gebied dat vlak bij het hotel ligt. De gondel ligt op wandelafstand en je kan terugkeren op de skis tot aan het hotel. Rond 15u00 was de zon echter helemaal weg...

Hoewel ze vandaag tamelijk goed weer gegeven hadden, is het de hele dag mistig en winderig geweest (-15°C op de gletscher) en heeft het ook licht gesneeuwd. Omdat we hoopten dat het toch zou opklaren, zijn we toch naar de gletscher gegaan. Daar hebben we eerst het Natur Eis Palast bezocht. Dat is een prachtige ijsgrot die in 2007 per toeval ontd...

Well we arrived in Innsbruck by train and it was again a breathtaking train ride. We had to change trains a few times but never waited more than a few minutes.

Of all the cities I have seen in Austria so far, which has been limited to Salzburg, Kufstein and a few other small villages, Innsbruck has been my favorite so far. It is such a beautiful city both in its architecture and in its geographic location. Plus, the Austrian people are so generous and amicable its almost impossible to dislike the city!...

Hired a car for a long weekend down in Austria. We took the scenic route down via the Gerlos Alpenstrasse. Sacha geeft in Tux (in de buurt van Mayrhofen) Ski-les, dus die hebben we (Yvonne en ik) een bezoekje gebracht. Erg gezellig, helaas werkte het weer niet mee en hebben we niet samen met haar kunnen skieen, jammer wabt ik had wel willen zien hoe goed ze was.

Lovely day. Up and breakfast, then drive to center of town. We rode the
funicular up to Salzburg Fortress (Hohensalzburg) and walked around the
