Today was our last day in Salzburg. Neither of us were hungry for breakfast after last nights feast, so we headed 20 minutes outside of town to Schloss (castle) Hellbrunn. This "small" castle was built in 1613 & named for the clear spring water that supplied it. ... The food was truly Norwegian-style with plenty of fish and vegetables. The least successful dish paired scallops & corned beef - not my favorite, a little too outside the box putting seafood & meat together. The most successful was a tie between the carrots with smoked cheese & pumpkin ice cream with camomile cream. The atmosphere was truly memorable and the service was impeccable

Waddling out of the Cafe Sacher, we took the bus back to our pension, jumped in the car and drove a few kilometers to a cable car which took us up 7,000 feet to a mountaintop hiking destination, the Untersberg, from which we could look far into the distance and survey the beautiful countryside below. Which brings me onto the next point, we will ending our German adventure at Christmas. Jen's family are coming to visit over the Christmas holiday and are staying the flat, so we felt it would be the best time to make the long journey home. All we need now is some suggestions are to where to stay on the way back to Calais! But that's not for a long time now, plenty more adventures to be had here.

... There was a cranky dog there that kept barking and snapping at people. We bought raspberries, strawberries, grapes and bananas. Not cheap but they were delicious. You didn’t serve yourself, instead the lady packaged up your goods into brown paper cone shaped bags. We were ready to go.
