... route at it best and iconic place, the Chapman's Peak drive. The narrow road winds up along the cliff, from sea level to over 500 m in a matter of a few kilometres. Despite the little flat section in the middle, it is impressive, and beautiful of course. We snap a few pics at the Peak, looking over Hoot Bay, and then drive down to the beach on the other side. We were going to head towards the GR from there but Paddy wanted to stay and play another night in Cape Town as it was a Saturday night. He wasn't interested in the cape. I was kind of surprised he was so forward about his schedule and what he wanted to do considering Stan invited him and there was more than one person ...

We had flown for about 16 hours altogether from New York, through Jo'burg and on to Cape Town, with another 3 to 4 hours checking in, doing security and waiting to fly. We had yelling children for about 12 of those hours, so we were pretty tired when we got in. After checking in to the hotel, we wandered around downtown for a little while in the rain, then had dinner and went to bed.
