... did I know at the time, but I would be getting a much more 'up close and personal' view of these mountains the following day (with Kipu Ranch Adventures). Anyway, our flight path this morning was to Jurassic Falls, where one of the iconic scenes from the first Jurassic Park movie was shot. Yes the giant waterfall. From the moment we took off in the helicopter the pilot had recognisable music from various movies (filmed on Kauai) piped through our headphones and also provided commentary; ...

... through all the towns along the way. Plus, the last 15 miles is narrow, winding, and right beside beaches and spectacular surf views, so that part is especially slow.

... We decided to stop here and started to make our way back. We managed to get a trolley back down and got dropped off back in Waikiki. We needed a drink so decided to get an early lunch as well. Feeling better we headed to the beach for a swim and then back to the hotel for the pool and hot tub. We also tried out the foot spa. This is the life.

We get ready and head out to Waikiki beach walk. This area had lots of shops and restaurants. ...

We were up and packed and ready to move by 9:30, so off we went to head south and east to Akialoa Cottage in Kekaha. We have been on the windward side of the island for the first week. In addition to being windy, it is also wetter than the leeward side where we are headed. The leeward side is dryer, hotter and sunnier. We drove until we got to Hanapepe where we got gas. When we got to Waimea (why-MAY-ya) we turned off at Waimea Canyon Drive ...
