    Our pilot was telling us about how this island was formed 400,000 years ago and lots of other information, but it was in one ear, out the other. We were just in awe of the incredible view before us.

    What a shame this place is so far from home. You all need to see this place with your own eyes - just amazing!

    ... through all the towns along the way. Plus, the last 15 miles is narrow, winding, and right beside beaches and spectacular surf views, so that part is especially slow.

    Limahuli was interesting. It's a part of the National Botanical Garden system and specializes in native indigenous Hawaii plants, of which there are really very few any more due to the waves of invasion by humans bearing ecological gifts ...

    ... also said that he was swimming with a turtle. I forgot to mention that there are chickens and roosters everywhere. Today they were even walking along the beach edge where the grass ends and the sand starts. No wonder everyone thinks that kangaroos are walking our streets.

    ... lunch on the rocks...reminded us so much of west Australia! Fred decided not to kayak back so I did all the tough work and even on my own we were head of the crew so I felt good about my kayaking skills! Got home, a scotch and bed for Fred....I went for a walk and chilled for an hour or so... Then time for dinner and bed! We should not wake up at 3am tomorrow from jetlag....I think we will sleep for 2 ...

    All good things must come to an end...

    ... and, thanks to a bit of kayaking experience and a previous go at SUP on Fiona and Michael Pemberton's board at Clifton Beach a few years ago, I was the only one who could stand up straight away and who didn't fall off. In fact, the hardest parts were carrying the very big and very heavy board to the beach (and back again later), and having to start out sitting on your knees - standing up is much easier! And the best part was seeing three sea turtles ...
