Day 7 of our Hawaiian Adventure

... we came across a bunch of spinner dolphins. So cool to have them so close you could touch them. A couple even jumped up and did their spin for us! Then he hit the throttle again...HOLD ON! Amazing views of the coastline headed towards Nepali. Pointed out military base, old sugar cane plantation (which diverted much of the rain water from the mountains to irrigate the fields back when in operation...the eliminated many of the waterfalls that occurred naturally). Then we went ...

... in the cottage we opened all the windows, the small slatted glass kind that swivel open with a lever. We left the windows open while we were gone this afternoon.

After lunch we put on our hiking boots, filled our bottles with water and headed for Waimea Canyon. This time we took the road from Kekaha up to the park. We went to the Pu'u Hinahina Lookout where the Canyon Trail began. The trail is 1.8 miles one way. Almost immediately the trail starts ...

I'm sure most of my audience has never heard of that song...don't worry you aren't missing anything, but it was fun to sing regardless. We all ended up drinking a bunch of beers and singing a bunch of songs before calling it a night. What a fabulous final full day though, great waves, more time with an old friend, new friends, beers, karaoke, and one more night with the boys. Another day to remember!!!!

The waves on the East Side were unimpressive yet again so I took the morning to do some planning for my future travels. I discovered the Future Music Festival-an annual summer festival in Australia-and decided I wanted to go. As a result, I booked my flight from New Zealand to OZ, bought my ticket to the Adelaide show, and got hooked up with a place to stay for the first three nights I'm in town. Stoked!!! Here is a link to the music lineup for the ...

... view of the ocean. But as I said, I had to keep up.

Ron was on point for most of the day and he set a "brisk" pace. So brisk, I'm certain we passed all hikers that had started the trail before us that morning within the first two miles. Two miles in, the trail takes hikers to the previously mentioned Hanakapi'ai Beach. For most people, this is as far as they go. This is also a camping destination for some and there were quite a few hippies that ...
