... the price he quoted me including lodging I decided to do it though as the price at $120 was pretty good for the certification.

Our dives started on the right foot. First off I was buddied with a Peoplesoft consultant that lived in Nice and was on a project in Durban. He had actually worked in Montreal for a bit and it was nice to speak in French with someone.

We took off the beach in an inflatable raft which was also a first and this was ...
Sodwana Bay, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa mike_bright... over the course of the morning, I even ended up enjoying the experience. Although I have to admit I have been walking a bit strangely since! I am writing this from St Lucia which is a marine reserve up near the border with Mozambique. We got here yesterday and today has been fantastic. We went hippo and crocodile watching this morning from a boat, we saw both which was really exciting. Then we went for a drive down the coast where you drive through a game reserve which ...
St. Lucia, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa littlemisbakpak... name of their choice. In the courtyard the students proceeded to have their faces painted like warriors (very stereotypical I know), but the students had a great time. After we cleaned up it was time for show and tell. The students asked me many questions about Native Americans and American in general. They thought maybe I lived with Native Americans ...
Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa whitneyhl... a lovely gang -Mary, Drew, Rachel, Neasa and myself, which helps as you're in the middle of nowhere. We made our own fun. Word of warning though, the owner is a bit pervy and leery. Keep your distance there. Also everything here is run on tab so it is wise to keep a record of what you eat and drink yourself to be sure you're not overcharged - you loose track easily. Costs Per Person: Ampitheatre Lodge ~ 2 nights 25 euro Hike ~ 40 euro
Northern Drakensberg, South Africa francescahunt... and the San Bushman rock art site. Plenty more wildlife was to be seen, loads of photo opportunities, more Castle and wine drinking and the chance to soak up the mountain air and relax before the long trip back to Jo-burg and home.. a perfect end to a perfect holiday
Drakensberg Mountains, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa clarefun22My Safara was absolutely amazing. We saw 4 of the Big 5, minus the leopard which I could care less about. I saw the elephants and so my life is complete. We have a photo of 3 of the 5 together by one brook. Our guide asked us to send it to him because that's never happend. It was an Elephant bull, 2 white Rhinos and a lioness. Amazing. I'm glad I didn't get malaria or sunburn so I'd say my trip was an absolute success!
Kwazulu- Natal, South Africa cudiebug23I figured what the heck. I tried bungee jumping in Vic so why not sky diving in Durbs? This morning I had myself flung out of a cramped plane at 9000 feet. The only reason was "why not?". Yes, I know my question mark should be outside the quotation marks and there should be no comma, but that's a stupid rule. Last night one of the girls here at the hostel said she was going to do sky diving this morning and since I had nothing else really planned I decided to go along ...
Durban, South Africa daveo1... on the dirt floor next to where they build fires for cooking. The family didn't even have a blanket to sleep on. My friend said that the conditions were unbelievable. When he was brought home, however, his family with tear-filled eyes embraced him and showered him with so much love. A friend of mine who went along on the trip said that it was amazing how much love this family had for him, even though they had not seen him since he was a few months old. If his family had ...
Durban, South Africa jaimegirl... Africa that I can't explain-and I will miss it terribly. I may not get to write again until after I leave the home and start backpacking-but I will write as soon as I can. I miss you all and can't wait to see you! Thanks again for the e-mails and all of your support. It really means so much:) Oh yeah-there are a few updates to the web page if you want to check it out. I am also sending more pics out through Ofoto:)
Cato Ridge, South Africa jaimegirl... As if answering Jared's prayers, rain started falling and we were forced back to shore and to the safety of the bar area. While enjoying a glass of port as the rain started beating down harder, I was able to reflect back and admire the fact that we were unable to paddle too far adrift from shore, unlike the unlucky souls who were now bounding across the water as fast as their weary arms could take them to the safety of the shore. "Another port there please barman."
