... at 2pm and got back at 5.30pm. The driver dropped us off at Tianjin East Station and we got a half hour train ride to Beijing South Station. I am now booked into the Friendship Hotel for the next week, working in the Beijing office Monday-Wednesday, and then Thursday-Saturday on May Day Holiday, and then Will and I travel to Nanjing on Sunday to meet the AQM team as it is a work day (complete with some of the contents of Will's flat for his relocation to ...

On saturday morning we took the D-train out to the coast to see where the Great Wall ends, or begins. On the sunday we got on a chartered bus to visit a less touristy place at Dongjiakou. After a long time I think my sister has fallen asleep. Now I'm waiting for the rest of my trip to ...

Another busy busy day. So much to write and try and remember everything. Caught a mini van for the Drive to the Old Dragon Head (the beginning of the Great Wall ). You can tell that it is slack season for tourists as we almost have the place to ourselves. This is another place where the soldiers stayed and again we took plenty of photos. Was fascinating to see how the wall was built into the sea. Also to see the old merging with the new ...

... quiet with no normal clatter of train tracks. Must admit I did not take in much of the scenery as busy trying to capture some of the things we have done here! Arriving at qinhuangdao was a shock. I was expecting a tiny coastal town. Duh! This is china you dork, with a population of how many! Anyway my tiny coastal town has a population of 3 million so is roughly 3 times the size of Auckland although crammed ...
