... you can still hear the ghosts from those times. Luckily I didn't. All I heard were the waves of the ocean and the constant sales pitches of the vendors, offering me everything from taxi service to beach chairs to cold drinks, everything but sex, which was a welcome relief.

RQ Uncle Ho and his merry gang fascinated me as a kid, the American war in Vietnam was raging it's **** off in the late 60's, and us kids at school in Darwin watched many  a B52 loaded up to the gunnels, engines screaming and billowing thick black smoke as they took off toward SE Asia over Fannie Bay beach. Many a time we'd stop footy training for a few minutes and look up at those scary things, and wonder what they were up too and where they were going to do ...
