We got back to the hostel & had a game of pool ( Nath won again) & had some lunch. We were going to Yangshuo for 3 nights & decided to pack what we needed in our small backpacks & leave our large ones here till we came back to catch the train on Wednesday night. That done we set out to the bus station up the road. The buses go every 30 minutes for the ...

careful manipulation of their throats by the old man. The birds all
known to him by name had real character, all honking away in the water,
with one trying to skyve off and hide by swimming behind the upturned
bamboo lip on the bow of the raft, and another who constantly lunged
for the fish in the 'already caught ...
... cartoon beefcake boyfriend. After 2 climbs - both around 25 metres I was completely shot. I got about 3 metres up the 3rd climb and could lift my sorry bones no more. At this stage, I opted to retire to the picnic rug with my oreos and call it a day and treat myself to a massage in the afternoon. I kept treating myself into the evening, when i took in a light and sound show developed by the brains behind the Beijing Olympics opening ceremony. It was ...

Yangshuo, Guangxi, China blummo... you could buy your picture but apart from that, it was a really chilled out way to see the scenery. We rode our bikes there and they got taken down to the end whilst we were on the raft. So we rode back the really long way round but it was nice to be in China on a bike! When we got back to the hostel we met up with Damian again which was good. It was great in Yangshuo because there was a big group of us as well as four other guys from England. Lots of beer was consumed! That night we ...
Yangshuo, Guangxi Zhuang, China danmorgan... It is performed by over 600 locals, of whom most are farmers and fisherman from the local villages and up to 2,000 people pay to watch the play every night.
Unfortunately, as with most things, the Chinese marred the experience a bit by their constant talking all the way through the play, to the point where I was forced to turned around and shout at a little boy with a particularly high pitched voice.
Lizzie’s experience was slightly marred by the woman ...
... and then it seemed like my foot hit something funny. I think it was the lady's pedal on her bike. It did nothing to me but startled me, but that poor lady almost crashed. Those bikes can dodge between buses and taxis but can't get past a clumsy American from Harlingen. Nobody chased me so I guess she is alright.
My point and order menu
Eating is still an adventure in ordering. Today, I was hungry and went by a little hole in the wall place and saw a lady at the ...
... was the chicken with pineapple and I would have used less oil in everything. The fried-stuffed eggplant was the heaviest and left me completely saturated for the rest of the day. Other famous dishes in town were the beer fish, dumplings and Guilin noodles for the affordable 3 RMB (about 50 cents). I was at a bar near West Street with another American guy, when the 10-year-old son of the owner came up to us and spoke fluent English, telling us how he ...
Yangshuo, Guangxi Zhuang, China lbraunI don't think I ever did an update on my old blog about our motorbike ride, so here's a chance to share some pictures.
A bunch of us rented gas powered bikes for 60 kuai for the day (little less than $9), and took off north/northeast of town through the mountains and orange orchards. The haze was super thick that day, so it's definitely a trip I want to make again. But ...
... have missed my domestic flight from Shenzhen to Guilin. Shenzhen is the richest place per capita in China, beating Shaghai to 2nd. Looking at all of the high rises and putrid smog on the route to the airport I guess this is some sign of success. Getting the plane was a breeze as the airport has plenty of English and Pinyin (this is chinese written in the roman alphabet not using the traditional characters). This is the exception ...
