They are the only kind of horses allowed in Iceland, No interbreeding or anything like that, they are short(around 13-14 hands, aka pony size), sturdy(they maybe tiny but their muscle mass and weight is closer to a horse then a pony) with a long coat and mane and tail. ... in Reykjavik was (against forecast) very clear, temperature by 9.00pm at around -4c, and I strolled around the bay area for about 90 minutes or so hoping for a glimpse of the aurora. But it was a vain hope, as solar activity was very low, so even the bonus of a clear sky added up to nought (the full moon rose while I was out which, added to the city lights, would have muted the effect anyway). ... took us to a completely empty area, no lights and completely in the middle of nowhere. We saw a couple of other tour buses that pulled off quite early outside of Reykjavik and were still close to the lights, which made us glad we'd chosen a company that knew to go further away.
