- I write this with cheesy Polish pop blaring from a speaker above my head sitting on a ferry that will take Gary and me from the wharf in Gdansk town to Sopot, on the Baltic coast. Our stay in Gdansk was even better than we'd expected, starting with the very high-end apartment just outside the of town in a block that must have only just been renovated. ... enjoyed the sunshine and feel no sadness with leaving tomorrow morning! Would I recommend it to fellow-travellers? I’m not sure – if you want to visit just to “tick that box”, then go for it! But, it is part of Russia, so it requires the complicated Russian Visa, though for holders of an EU Passport, you can get a 3-day Transit Visa, which is more than enough time!
