... checked, then we were allowed to walk outside to a bus, in which we waited 10 minutes while it filled before driving us 100 yards to the plane (!). Marjolaine and I were among the first out (it helps to know which bus door will open) and so we were able to store our carryon right by our seats.

We took off on time and flew about half an hour over Bénin to Lagos, *****ia. The airport didn’t appear to have changed since the last time ...

... Kenya Airways has an office. It is 1:00 rush hour in Kinshasa, when the shift happens between school children who attend in the morning and those who attend in the afternoon. It was a nice, refreshing rain ...

That didn’t sound good. I tried several more times during the morning and always reached the same recording. There was a morning flight from Nairobi to Kinshasa, the same one on which we had arrived, so I hoped my suitcase might arrive before we left ...

... tarmac and into the airport. Daniel and I walked to the Kenya Airways lounge, where I should have been able to have a guest enter with me. But the agent explained that since the big fire last year, they have little lounge space. This lounge, the only one now in the airport for Kenya Airways was only open to people actually flying business class. People with lounge rights because of status level (that’s me) were to order what they wanted down at the coffee shop by ...
