The other day when we went to Rye there was a long straight part of the road prior to the village. As we left Rye later in the afternoon, we headed back along this straight and noticed a rubbish truck stopped on the other side of the road with the hazard lights on. ... Sustrans ranger , keeping an eye on the routes in his area. The hill out of Seaton went steeply up, but still rideable, then down into Beer, where the hill to Branscombe was huge and the 1in3 drop into the village and 1in3 up again even steeper. A similar drop down into Sidmouth followed. I stopped for lunch on the seafront where the wind was blowing the deck chairs and a few holidaymakers around. As for the hill out ...

... and its got a lovely seaview. There is a beach river which kids can take a dinghy down to the sea whilst adults enjoy the view which extends around the coast to show a little island just down the coast.


If you need refreshments go to the Wave bar which serves local fish specialities and does take away.

I would write more, but I spent more time enjoying the sudden sunshine than I did exploring- and so should you! Go and explore!

... straight on board, the Britannia this time. The usual hug quality cabin, complementary drinks and then an hour in the bar enjoying a lager or two. Another good sleep and then the tiring journey home, made better as we landed in England at 0630 and so were beyond the M25 by the time the traffic built up. Home by 1430! ... and then take the high path along the cliff face over to West Bay and return. We are to transport our camp down to the "beach", set up camp and then blaze the brazier for our scraps barbie later on. Yes it is a tad on the fresh side but we have enough wood and hot rocks to heat anyone within a radius of 50 metres.
