I hate Air Asia... there, I have said it. OK, maybe that is not entirely fair as they are cheap and they get you from A to B but that's all the good I have to say about them. Today was complete nightmare...
We wake at the unearthly hour of 4.30 and head downstairs for our taxi we pre-booked the night before. We wait... and we wait... and we wait. When we realise we can wait no more the hotel guys say they will get us a taxi. Great we think expecting one to arrive at the door we are sta...
This no shortage of ways to make the journey between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, it can be done by plane, boat, bus and even train, if you have the time to go via Battambang. The only cheap option is the bus at $4, per person, each way, and even this is a tourist rate, our tuk-tuk driver in Siem Reap told us he would only have to pay $2. The boat, on the other hand charges anywhere between $20 and $25, and as we were travelling in the dry season (we travelled end of May), the boats were taking ...
Siem Reap, Cambodia rayandpaulI waited and waited until May 8th when my Thai visa expired to decide where to go on my visa run. This was going to be my first actual visa run that wasn't one of my monthly trips to Laos, Hong Kong or Malaysia in disguise. I wanted to fly to Malaysia and back like I usually do because Malaysia doesn't have a cover charge like Laos ($30), Cambodia ($20), Myanmar ($10)..., but since I waited 'til the last day to decide, the price of the flight jumped to almost 5,000 Baht. I decided that the 40...
Poi Pet, Cambodia rcys... looked like child's play. There were five magnificent towers and countless chambers in this very complex building.

There are thousands of tourists visiting this place each day, so be prepared to queue up if you are going through some of the narrow alleyways. There are tourists throughout the day but I was told, launch time, would be the quietest time when most tourists have gone back to their hotels for lunch.

Be prepared to do a lot of walking ...
Siem Reap, Cambodia hantulaut... of his mouth took me completely by surprise. "Would you like to….buy my badge?" Yes you read that right – he wanted to sell me his badge. It appeared to be the real thing based on the weight of it, and he assured me it was. Then he reached into his pocket and showed me a small bag with 5 more in it. They all said Siem Reap Police and had a number on it, I’m fairly certain they all were the real deal and for a starting price of $20 I ...
Siem Reap, Cambodia mrcwoodsman... by giant head sculptures, was a large jagged, rocky spire, the focal point, some of the crudeness of the architecture and ruggedness of the stone paving showed its age and wear and tear, but more importantly brought with it an authenticity to it. Juxtaposing this ruggedness was the detailed and engraved walls of the temple, with splendid art work (although not quite at the level of Borobudur, still pretty fine).

Forget Angkor Wat (highly controversial!) this ...
Siem Reap, KH.16, Cambodia leehorscraft... the blog - brilliant! The village is set on dry land during the dry months but in winter it is flooded, up to 10m deep in some areas, by the overflow from the Mekong. All of the houses are on stilts with no land in sight. Kids jumping in the water, waving a laughing. A really enjoyable experience.
The food has been excellent and really healthy. What more can I say. Off to Phnom Penh tomorrow by bus.
Chow,
Wendy and Dean

It was great - very ticklish but I'm not sure how well it worked.

Angkor - we arranged a day tour with a tuc tuc driver for $12. He picked us up at 5am and we were there for sunrise. We spent 11 hours there. There's just so much to see and in 11 hours we only did the small loop of temples - so I think I'll have to go back one day to ...

Thats from us trying to explain what they have to do, to all of them being on the other side of the room. Siem Reap, Cambodia mum-and-son... at the top of the hill. I was doing pretty good and we started climbing the stairs. These were no ordinary stairs because they were like 3 inches deep and very high. I made it up two sets but my extreme fear of heights left me paralyzed to do anymore. I told my friend to take my camera and to please take pictures for me while I tried to figure out what I was going to do. I was trying to not get panicky but I really had no idea how I was going to get ...
