Day 100!

A travel blog entry by mattyjordan

We arrived in Arequipa at about 2am and jumped in a taxi. We have learned a few things about taxi drivers here... They always tell you that the place you want to go to is either closed, or they take you to entirely different places altogether because they get commission for taking people there. We told the bloke we had a reservation at a place (we didn't) but anyway he took us to 4 different hostels before finally taking us to the right one after we got fed up with him. We then parked and took a walking tour through the city. It was very pretty. Did I say that already? While walking we saw a bunch of stray dogs, and my mom was freaking out about them because she is scared of ...

Our first day in Arequipa we explored the city, just walking around our hostal and the downtown area getting a feel for the place. Later in the day we went to Santa Catalina, a massive convent right near the downtown centre (Plaza De Armes). Santa Catalina is MASSIVE. It ...
