The White City & the Colca Canyon

A travel blog entry by ashhigh

... Most of the buildings are made from white volcanic rock since the city is surrounded by 3 huge spectacular volcanoes. After some nice ceviche we started on the sauce and inevitably led to more table dancing.... Standard! Was a cracking night with the lads we had met in Puno. The next day we chilled by the pool with the guys and treated the hangovers with some early refreshing hair of the dog in the form of cold beers. The pool itself was freezing cold and quite small, so with ...

We also got a lesson on how to do the laundry which involves hand scrubbing, washing (luckily they have a machine that gives a 9-minute cycle!), hand ...

Below the lofty stone steeples is a fruitful square splattered with vibrant flowers, irregular cobblestones and flocks of pigeons. Stone pillars stand guard to the sheltered sidewalk on the inner fringe of the square and the central peak of the tranquil space is an ostentatious fountain. A day spent exploring this up market city is not a day wasted and the ...
