... Austria with floods and snow causing transport chaos so we cannot complain. Today we tested out Mary's boots and walked the 4 km to Millstatt to access the wifi in a cafe where we had lovely goulash soup for lunch. Only problem was the smokers in the room but we had no choice. Today, Friday we caught the bus to Seeboden, the next village past Millstatt. We used the wifi at the Tourist bureau. It had stopped raining but started again after we got back for lunch. Had ...

Then back in Ljubljana we checked into our room- the attic?? And then went into the Old Town for dinner. God the city was beautiful with all the lights and the river running through the centre.

We stopped for dinner next to the river and had burgers and pizza (yes not very traditional to be fair..) Then we were shattered and it was definitely time for bed.

Day one went well I feel!

... of the oldest settlements in Slovenia, a picture-perfect medieval town. It's as though every building, bridge and alleyway has a story to tell. Dominating the landscape is the Loka castle built before 1202. We parked at the Tourist Centre and walked into town crossing a bridge over the Polijanska Sora river. Most of the buildings in the Town centre are late 15th century, as an earthquake in 1511 destroyed most of the town. We wandered around for a while, had a coffee at the famous ...
