... and all is well. As we ride back over the hills, my driver a foot and a half in front of me glancing back nervously, I watch the sunset over a crystal clear sea and smile. Then we get to a roundabout and some white guy screams "Sacre Bleu" and flies over the handlebars of his rented moped, *********** severely face first on the *****umen. This is where I have my third flashback. It is of the French guy *********** again, in slow mo instant replay. It was hilarious. Me and my gay ...
Phuket, Thailand gazalache... our stomach, becoming psychologically linked to the English version of Aljazeera, and one day of almost blistering sun (sunburn) on Patong beach. This of course includes the major charade that will probably prevent us from returning to Thailand, its constant push of useless, cheap merchandise, and I don’t mean the harmless Mexican touristy town’s version. This is something of a whole new caliber to which I had not experienced. The people were constantly ...
Phuket, Thailand bentania... that he wasn't supposed to be there; that he really should be fishing and making money. I thought perhaps she was older, maybe a parent figure, expected. But she was 8. Eight years old and having been indoctrinated by her parents into thinking that her brother, attending school, was in the wrong. That making a few hundred dollars off the sweat off his back was worth more than this free education and an open future and thousands of dollars and possibilities more.
Phuket, Thailand chuang84... con and a telly and a dvd player...sometimes it has to be done! And I watched Slumdog Millionnaire and Burn After Reading which are both great films! Slumdog made me miss India again and i urge you all to see it if you haven't already! Tomorrow i am off to Khao Lak to try and get to the Surin islands which are rumoured to be even more beautiful than the Similian islands. Hope all is well in the UK, and rest assured that Thailand has been having grey days and a lorra lorra rain! x
Phuket, Thailand katyannwilkinso... Since this is my first trip to Southeast Asia, my visit to Phuket was the closest I have come to the carnage that devastated this region in the world (the greatest damage was inflicted on Sumatra and Thailand second). Close to 250 people died on Phuket alone on that day. With the tsunami in the back of my mind, I reached the beaches of Phuket in a particularly somber mood. This mood was attenuated by the constant reminders throughout the island ...
Phuket, Thailand chiapoe... at a place called Niku Guesthouse. Around 17:30, we caught a share taxi back to Phuket town to avoid paying the extortionate rates charged by the tuk-tuk drivers after the bus stopped running. Since our Thailand visa expired in a few days, we were considering making another short trip to Myanmar so that we could stay in Thailand as long as we had originally planned, but were leaning towards heading to Cambodia earlier than planned. The Phuket travel agencies had ...

It's nearly a month and need to do a Visa run to extend my stay in Thailand for another 30 days. Going to Burma on Saturday morning 5.30AM. 2 friends are leaving this weekend which is sad :( They're both great gals especially Michelle who is a tough chick and has made a super effort to hit every training session every day. (Next blog entry will be a 1 month ...
Rawai, Thailand ly.ho... hollywood movie. We stopped off at a secluded little beach and had a picnic lunch and swam in the warm blue water. The trip was one of the highlights of my trip so far and I will definately do this again when I return to Phuket. It reminded me a when I went to Disneyland when I was a kid. At the end of a very long day, I was dead-tired and could barely walk anymore but still didn't want to leave because it was so much fun. Such are the islands of Phang Nga Bay.
Phuket, Thailand tmsross... the heart breakingly divine Koh Phi Phi. The island was hit hard by the Toon Army back in 2004 - it's amazing how much damage the Geordie football fans did - and is still in the process of being re-built. That aside, it is probably the most awe inspiring island I have visited to date, although that naturally means that there are thousands of other tourists sharing the experience. Indeed, I shared the boat trip over with the ...
