... offers a variety of dishes prepared with local Allgäu cheese. Beware though, the menu is not in German but rather in the Allgäu language making it even difficult to understand for the normal German. An English menu is not available. It was well worth it as the view is most likely the same one that we saw in all the photos-the leaves were just starting to change color and in a couple more weeks would have been spectacular. ... of the castle looked very similar to Disney's Fairy Tale Castle. In the interior only about 18 of the 60 rooms had been completed. At the early age of 40 years, King Ludwig II was murdered after having enjoyed a mere 80 days at that castle.

High up in the Allgäu Alps, a few miles from the village of Pfronten, we visited a very isolated for over 100 years family-run luxury hotel for dinner. A beautiful wooden structure with a grand view of the Alpe foothills, and cow bells of cows grazing in the pristine alpine highlands could be heard throughout our dinner stay.

The hotel served a gourmet dinner of freshly prepared local and international dining variety.

Unfortunately, the second bodge didn't quite make it all the way we needed it to, and just into Austria (Bregenz), we heard the ominous noise we had heard before. We pulled into a garage, as we all wanted to refuel, then moved over onto the forecourt and took another look under the bonnet. Our fears were confirmed, the rope had worn through, but we had managed over 130 miles on it. So after a few failed ...

We take a last daytrip together to beautiful, fairy tale Schloss Neuschwanstein. Fiona had visited before, but it was still a lovely day out together, and probably one of the last castles we will visit...we're definitely feeling a bit castled out.

Before leaving Munich there was one other site that I wanted to see, the Asam Kirche. The Asam brothers built this church back in the 1700's and it is over-the-top. The amount of gold and decorations in the church is amazing. It is terribly small, but really cool to see. It isn't far from the other sites downtown and the smallness is a nice change from the huge overbearing churches in Germany. Today we said goodbye to Judy and Katie while mom, dad, Alex and I ...

After our tour we drove to Kempten and stayed at the Peterhof downtown. This was our first room with a tv...all German stations, of course!
