We have arrived safely in Thailand and have found a very cheap guesthouse to stay in. That being said it does look a little like a prison cell!!! So far we have ventured out to the travelling haven that is the Khoa San Road. A street full on bars, restaurants and shops selling everything you could imagine.
Our journey here was not the easiest one though. After STA's rather massive error in our India tour booking we had to make some arrangements to travel back to Delhi in order to catch...
The last day in Amman wasn't as terrifying as the first. I had a pleasant talk with a taxi driver on the way to the airport. He supports Barack Obama, and hopes his presence can bring stability to the region and rebuild America's image in a more positive manner internationally. I'm not so optimistic that one man can do all that, but it was nice hearing something hopeful about America for a change. The cab driver also greets people by saying "Heil Hitler." I asked him a bit about this, and he ...
Kathmandu, Nepal roffels... as it is known to the trekkers! Kirsty was pretty worried and at one point we had to question if we should carry on. It was then that we heard about the magic pills - Diamox. These helped you to acclimatise better. Acclimiatisation if yuou are normal means the following:
Excessive urinating (especially at night when temperatures can be between -10 and -20 on a squat toliet, in the dark)
Pins and needles in your fingers and toes

Namaste to you all!
After the meditation course, which I am still doing btw, I started sightseeing of Kathmandu and the surrounding valley. I have to say that Kathmandu itself is not very interesting, lots of people, lots of pollution, but also some nice temples and backstreets near durbar square. During my walking tour through the old streets of Kathmandu I found another traveller, Sebastien, from Germany, who was walking the same ...
... tell myself, and the snow begins to fall— first as hail, then as sheets of ice. Jill and I stop to put on rain gear. We snack on yak cheese and bread, then trudge on up the mountain, hoping that every corner will reveal the famous monastery on the hilltop.
Reaching the plateau, we slog through four inches of snow. The blizzard obscures our view of mountain and trail. Finally we reach the monastery and head for the only ...

... of loads of dishes like peanut malasa, momos ( stuffed dumplings), lentil curries and loads of other great stuff, we have both turned veggie since being here as the meat and fish ar left out on stalls in the streets all day in the heat so it really puts you off eating anything with meat in. After, we went to a pub called Tom and Jerry's for an Everest beer which tastes really good too.
Woke up dead late this morning but went to Swayambhunath which ...
After traveling for half the day we finally arrived into Nepal, Kathmandu. Our taxi driver got lost on our way to the hotel and it took us another hour and a half to get there!!! That night tired and a bit jetlagged we met our new tour group.
The Next our tour group headed to Kodari but we stayed in Kathmandu for another night so we could actually check out the hippy looking city. We hired a taxi ...
... years running. It had gained this award not only for its beautiful construction and location but also for its minimum impact code of environmental awareness. All cooking was done with kerosene, the preferred fuel of ACAP as it doesn't contribute to the stripping of the rhododendron and oak forests for fuel wood (as most other lodges do). In addition to this, water is solar heated, the vegetables are grown organically in the grounds and the dreaded bottled mineral water is not ...
