... a Spanish tapas restaurant, everything you could imagine. A man stopped to talk to us because of our jaws on the floor. He turned out to be the owner of the ENTIRE street of bars and restaurants. He could probably tell we looked like broke backpackers and directed us in the direction of the cheap local bars. We found one on a rooftop. It was attached to a hostel and it was called Monkey Jane’s. Down a back alley, it was very quiet and the view from the roof ...

To make sure we would have all the dishes ready at the same time we started cooking the beef before making the sauce for the pork. The teacher gave clear instructions on what we had to do. The van trip was very convenient as it picked us up ...

... and hand planting and harvesting rice. It was like a scene that time forgot! As the humidity increased, we came to a river which looked so inviting. The water was clear and flowed at a steady pace. However, we were not allowed to go for a swim as this was considered a huge risk for the tour company. Dismounting from our bikes, we embraced the challenge of climbing Moon Hill, a total of 800 stairs. (Thanks for that stepper work, Jarrod!) it was a hot climb, but luckily shaded ...

... which didn't look that far or hilly on a map - was full of giant hills, and was actually miles long. This is definitely one downside to the beautifully hand drawn maps that are so popular in China! We struggled up one hill, and thought that we could do it - we couldn't see anymore hills and it wasn't that steep, it was just a struggle with no gears. We then went up another, steeper hill, and again, hoped and prayed that it was going to be the only hill, but then when we got ...
