Absolute shithole

A travel blog entry by jackajaylus

We arrived in Manila today. We'd been warned by basically everyone who's been to the Philippines to get out of Manila as soon as possible so we are getting a flight to Palawan tomorrow. We are staying in a room which is literally the size of a double bed and has cockroaches but it's still like £10 a night. The taxi driver who picked us up had …

Last days in this wonderful country

A travel blog entry by marqual

After days of boating and snorkeling, I still didn't have enough and opted for another day of snorkeling out of Coron. Our tour group when over to Coron Island, a mountainous, karst limestone island. We swam in Kayangan lake & hiked to an awesome viewpoint. Lunch was fish, crabs, rice, salad, and some strange pickled seaweed. We snorkeled in …

So I arrived in Manila.. did the entire flight journey solo and was it ever a long one.. after only barely getting 2 hours sleep before I left it was also a very tiring and emotional one.. I spent all my time leading up to the trip thinking about all the great stuff and then when it comes to the night before the flight all I can think about is …

New Year in Manila

A travel blog entry by youloveit

I'd heard mixed reviews on Manila. Some people hated it with a passion
and others thought it wasn't so bad. I am the latter.

Only two and a half hours from Tagaytay brings you smack bang in to the middle of the capital of all of these islands - Manila. I really did expect it to be as bad as everyone said but when I jumped off the …

The beauty of powerlessness

A travel blog entry by karen.gironr

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH YOUR LIFE? I have heard this question a million times ever since I graduated high school. Back then, I honestly thought this was something that I had power over, something I could DECIDE. That false idea of power scared the **** out of me, even if it was only over myself and my own I decided to avoid that …

For Manila on a budget it's fine, but rooms are basic at best and small. Staff are kinda friendly and happy to help direct you to travel agents etc.

    The owner is awesome,!
very caring looking out for people that stay in this what can be a little dangerous city.
The rooftop common area is cool, nice place to chill out away from the crazy bars and girls that hunt single male travelers, good fun if you keep your wits about you and never let your hands of your drink when your out and about ;-)
clean simple rooms, only place to stay in Manila for travellers.
