Arriving
So I arrived in Manila.. did the entire flight journey solo and was it ever a long one.. after only barely getting 2 hours sleep before I left it was also a very tiring and emotional one.. I spent all my time leading up to the trip thinking about all the great stuff and then when it comes to the night before the flight all I can think about is …
New Year in Manila
I'd heard mixed reviews on Manila. Some people hated it with a passion
and others thought it wasn't so bad. I am the latter.
Only two and a half hours from Tagaytay brings you smack bang in to the middle of the capital of all of these islands - Manila. I really did expect it to be as bad as everyone said but when I jumped off the …
The beauty of powerlessness
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO WITH YOUR LIFE? I have heard this question a million times ever since I graduated high school. Back then, I honestly thought this was something that I had power over, something I could DECIDE. I asked my taxi driver to take me somewhere for a massage and I ended up at a nice spa which included an all …
A true Asian megacity
Manila, Philippines - The night bus arrived somewhere in the large urban sprawl of Manila at 4am. I managed to share a taxi with the dutch guy and a couple of Korean girls. I tried to get a room at Melate Pensionne but after charging my itouch, jumped over the road to Friendly's guesthouse and they gave me a bed straight away, so was asleep by 5am …

The owner is awesome,!
very caring looking out for people that stay in this what can be a little dangerous city.
The rooftop common area is cool, nice place to chill out away from the crazy bars and girls that hunt single male travelers, good fun if you keep your wits about you and never let your hands of your drink when your out and about ;-)
clean simple rooms, only place to stay in Manila for travellers.
