    ... and fluffy, a toffee with hazelnuts and peanut butter or salty caramel ice cream. Thanks again to Sous Chef Alyn Rees again who patiently has allowed me to try and retry this maneuver. The end result it pretty awesome in appearance and quite tasty as well! As an aside all the ice creams served at the Gilpin Hotel are made in house. They are rich and creamy and a match to the best Italian gelato!

    ... at times negotiating muddy bogs and squidgy river beds trampled by hundreds of hiking boots. By the time we reached Keld late afternoon my heel was really giving me curry.     I was woken at 3 am by the sound of moderately heavy rain. It continued on and off until breakfast and I thought we were going to need our waterproofs.     We had a lovely stay at the Crown and Mitre last night. What a lovely pub with rooms upstairs, cosy dining area and bar below, cheerful staff and a warm homely atmosphere. Arriving at the end of the day in these delightful old places tired, thirsty, grimy, with sore feet, is such a pleasure.
