    ... we had chatted to in our break we already ahead), and no mobile phone reception. Not the place to have a medical emergency! Anyway, it all has a happy end, as he regained his former vigour, but after finally completing the climb, we had to find our way across the top, following cairns (the path was almost indistinguishable - slightly flattened grass every now and then) till we came to the descent - again with uneven loose rock....but by then we were sort of back ...

    Success- we have completed day 1!!!

    ... at Ennerdale Bridge, in a lovely corner room with views. Only problem was the wifi would not connect. Or the man didn't know how to help us...anyway, we have come to the rival pub for a drink in their bar, and are using their 3 bar wifi. There is no phone reception, so couldn't even have used my hotspot. So we are happy and proud that we still have the stamina, and have that post walk euphoria. And I have to ...

    ... other tidbit I forgot to say was that the Beatles first performance, with Ringo Starr as drummer, was at Port Sunlight! Quite historic. I think it was £30 to play for 60 to 80 minutes! Now to today. This is 4 train day, and has been quite fun. Left Liverpool Lime St about 10 am heading for Wigan North Western (I love the names of these places). That went OK, but train no. 2 was a few minutes late. - it was a big express heading for Edinburgh but we just had to go to ...
