... Guest House, we could see the Lake surrounded by fog-covered hills in various horticultural shades and searched in vain for a turn-off, driveway or some kind of width to pull of and photograph. After some hearty soups for dinner (including an OXtail that was like rich meat and gravy in liquid form, with some drizzles of white truffle oil), time to get an earlier night and longer sleep. We might have a better crack at the pics tomorrow though, before we head across in the York ...

... making the evening completely miserable. Thus, we moved to plan B: The Lakeside Hotel.

Turns out that plan B should have been plan A. If we had chosen this place first, we would have gotten to Lake District 1-2 hours earlier (situated off of an "A" road), made it in time for the boat to take us to the World of Beatrix Potter, and saved ourselves a lot of stress. In the end you live and you learn, and we still had an amazing experience.

Our hotel in Gretna Green had the awesome Scottish breakfast just like we had at out first hotel in Edinburgh but this one even served haggis!! We hit the road and travelled through the gorgeous Lake District. There was plenty to see on out two hour trip and we took several photos as we travelled. Gartmore House was a great example of this, as was the hotel in Gretna Green.
