... sites in Shanghai, and one of the prettiest was Yu Gardens, which has the famous mid-lake pavillion tea house next to it. Bill Clinton and the Queen have both taken tea here... though probably not at the same time.

In the tea house we were ushered round to a fancy room with a special table laid out, and told that it would cost us 80RMB (bout 8 quid) for the tea... we pointed out in our guide it was meant to cost a lot less, and so they led us back to the less fancy ...

... the bus at 11am. It is about a 2.5 hour ride to the bus station near the city center. But the track just so happens to be on the far north end of the city, closest to Nantong, and the bus just happens to pass within about 1 km of the track. The driver was kind enough to let me out at an exit on the express way and I hoofed it to the track. It was about 1km at the crow flies, but more like 2km to walk. I made it to my seat about 1:30pm.
