    Wednesday's brass bell

A travel blog entry by breezymag on Nov 28, 2014

We measure our week with brass bell. All week we look forward to it haha. It's so good it being on a Wednesday as well because it breaks up the week a bit and gets you excited in the middle of the week. There's not much you all want to hear about brass bell - so Wednesday blogs aren't very long... As pretty much the entire day revolves around brass bell. I woke up Wednesday more exhausted than I'd felt my whole trip. I think Tuesday ...

... We all made the most of a fairly cool, drizzly day to enjoy Kalk Bay & it's café culture, followed by a delightful visit to Klein Constantia for wine tasting. The drive through this elegant old, established area was beautiful, with vineyards covering the rolling surrounding hills.
A welcome lunch at cosy Groot Contantia followed accompanied by just another glass of red ! Perfect.

Our last stay on the Garden Route before Cape Town was in Sandbaai, Hermanus. Here we rented a beautiful beachside Hampton's style house through the mother-in-law of our original hosts in Port Elizabeth, a very handy arrangement! The house, Shore's Edge, was beautiful and served as a great place to recharge the batteries after a full on few weeks of travel. Glorious views, decks, a pool, fireplace, board games, an indoor braai (BBQ),wine, port and the comfiest lounges in the ...

Traffic lights are called "robots". "Sun downers" are drinks at or during sunset. Brai (?) is barbeque, which consists of beef sausages, chicken, pork, and fish. Wine is very good here and so is the coffee. Starbucks decided to not open a chain here. People from Zimbabwe are really good sculptures. The wind never stops blowing until March. When the ...

... Our next stop was to visit the African penguins on the beaches beside Simonstown. In 1982 there were two pairs of African penguins which explains why I didn't recall even knowing about penguins during my visit with my sister Lori in February, 1984. This beach is now a protected area as these 'Adelie' looking penguins are the only penguins that nest in Africa and thus have been renamed African penguins.
