... which was nice for us and we had lunch in a pub located inside the park and shared our meal with a huge population of wasps! The *******s were everywhere and it was the most stressful lunch we have had in ages. I mean how can you enjoy your meal if there is a risk of biting into a stinging wasp every time you bite. The wasp then sends off distress signals and after stinging your mouth you could then be stung by the thousands of his buddies! Stressful.

... the wall was up and people didn't have another option. The guide also explained to me why there are pieces of art on the part of the wall I saw yesterday. When the wall went down, people put art up on specifically on the East side of the wall as a sign that the people claimed the East side of Berlin. I'm glad I learned that because I have a new appreciation for all that art and I don't see it as vandalism at all anymore. I actually think that's a cool part ...

... was filled with tiring kids, eager teenagers, drunk people, jolly people, and old folks, a real diverse bunch! The televised concert began later in the evening and various musical acts entertained the crowd. The music was mostly fun and upbeat sung in both English and German. The best part though, was as we were approaching the time to count down, the Trans-Siberian Orchestra took to the stage. This is one of Oli's favourite groups! SO ...

... the same. So we decided to catch a night train back that evening. During the day we visited the waterlooplein markets once more and the biomarkt to collect some supplies for the train trip. We have both had a major dairy overload so are trying to cut down a little. I am attempting a vegan diet for a little while. And this supermarket is great for finding alternatives to the normal bread and cheese sandwich, or potato with sour cream, or pasta with heaps of cheese ...

... my bag about a kilometer
and by the time we finally reached our hotel it was two hours after
we set out and I was furious. So disappointed in the quality of this
bag. It has been nothing but trouble. Plan to ditch it as soon as I
can find a suitable replacement. So Berlin was a bit of a failure. We
went out, got a delicious doner kebab and trained into Alexander
Platz. It was around 10 so nothing was going on. All the shops were
closed. ...
