Des abattoirs aka Anse La Borde
You can find some of the most intense
waves on the island here as they're hollow, fast and powerful with a
shallow coral bottom. The waves aren't always consistent, however if
you get the right conditions you can find some really sweat waves.

St. Barthelemy (or St Barths), a magical little island about 2 hours by boat from St. Maarten. Small houses, narrow streets, beautiful surrounding, baguettes, crystal clear water and great food... although it is quite pricey. As it is a French island, people speak French and it has a French touch. Many people go skinny dipping and most women are topless on the beaches.

The island had a bit ...

... for us. Cruisers generally have pretty early evenings. Being near the equator the sun sets the same time every night - about 6:30 pm. Although we used to eat around 8:00 p.m. in Miami, here we tended to be done and the dishes washed by that hour. So the choices post dinner are to get in the dinghy with a flashlight and go ashore or to read and go to bed. Most people at anchor end up doing the latter. To be without Netflix and a flowing supply of DVDs meant many early nights for ...

Best of Antigua

Dear Blog,

Another day, another adventure. We arrived at Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda at 8:00am this morning. Today promises to be a beautiful warm and exciting day as the sun is already rising along the island and showing off its bright golden rays.

Antigua boasts one of the Caribbean's most spectacular coastlines with secluded coves and beaches. The capital is St. John's and approximately 70,000 people live on the island. The official ...

Beautiful Antigua

Today we arrived in St. John's, Antigua, Antigua and Barbuda. We debarked the ship and walked a bit until we reached what seemed to be some sort of plaza, where a local was balancing a pineapple on her head while grooving to music, hoping to make a few dollars off of us tourists. Later in the day, we took a tour of the island and saw two gorgeous beaches: Dickinson and Runaway.

... being a full fledged menu driven Italian restaurant (right now it is buffet style only). They also plan to enclose the current gym - have new equipment including elipticals in boxes ready to go but it has been pushed to the back burner as far as construction until the Med Village stuff gets completed (which is understandable). So next year we plan to bring our tennis shoes, try out the new gym, the Rainforest zip line, and ...

Antigua's Sensational Sister, Montserrat!

... get an overhead view of the island, but I highly recommend actually visiting the island itself. In my opinion, there is not another island like Montserrat, and to experience it firsthand is invaluable! For example, it is unbelievable to watch the glowing lava flow at nighttime! Absolutely gorgeous! There are hotels for those wishing to stay on the island to do some hiking and diving, and there are a handful of restaurants. If you ...

The sea started to be rough, the boat roller-coasting , splashing John and I abundantly; I'm facing ahead while he's facing the back of the boat, I see each wave rolling towards us while we try to converse. It was ...

We are at St. John and it is 07.00 am. It is the most "Virgin" out of all the other Virgin Islands .
