Well from Fishgaurd we headed up along the west coast of Wales. Our first stop were Ancient Burial chambers, from prehistoric times - known as Dolmers (forgive the spelling!) they were massive slabs of rock, balanced on each other and then surrounded in smaller rocks, eventually making a mound. Goodness knows how they got the rocks up there! According to tradition (which Josh wasn't too happy with!) standing under them can improve your ...
Bala, Wales, United Kingdom bronandjosh09... and threes from hill walks and the pub. Louise had cooked some wonderful curry for everyone. It was much appreciated. The kids watched Merlin on Louise's TV and Nick and I caught up with the friends we haven't seen for a while. It was a lovely evening.
Eventually the kids got to the whiny, scrapping stage and we made a swift exit, (before the Club decides not to invite us back again). It was well past midnight when we finally got home and rolled straight into bed.
... had torches, otherwise... The worst was one guy jogging up with a massive backpack. As he ran past me I wondered if he'd just lost a bet and was having to do this as a forfeit... What was that about??!
Anyway, we were home by 8, in ...
... I have enclosed some photo's. This trip took us over the Pontcyscllte Aqueduct which is about 200 feet above ground. Following the trip I walked back over the aqueduct and took these photo’s. No way would Glenn come with me as he is not fond of heights. At a little shop on the other side of the canal I found a small recipe book to bring home of English cakes and scones. Today was a long ...

... parading through the city and I quickly snapped this shot. I thought the parade was for us, however Gordon promptly indicated to me that it was for the town. Too bad!
Following our visit to Chester we made good time on the freeway to Conwy, Wales. This has a large castle as you enter town and you can walk all the streets in about an hours time which I proceeded to do. Glenn and Gordon set about finding photo ...
Group of 25 headed up Snowdon in celebration of Andy Duggards retirment.
Brilliant time was had by all, probably the best retirement I have been on (obviously sponsored by Carlsburg)
Congratulations Andy.
Proved to be a good last workout before we go - calves are feeling the effect though.
Well done to those that completed this mountain for the first time - Scafell next!
... below, really spectacular. There was a part where one of the mountains was half shrouded in cloud, but there was a small section near the top where the sun was trying to get through the cloud – it made it look like a volcano that was about to erupt, it looked almost magical – we decided it was the centre of the earth.
Caroline totally came alive up here, it was fantastic to see – she has never been ...
... I play really well again so I’m labelled ‘the machine’ and John says he wants his wife back. There is lots of laughter and John and Caroline conspire to burn the scoresheet so that there is no evidence of ‘the machine’ existing!!!
It was a lovely evening – we had the radio on listening to Magic fm and because it was cold, we built a crackling fire. With playing cards and all the laughter, it was really homely, a great last evening.
... and site of some famous old TV shows. Unfortunately it too has a extravagant entrance fee, and the average age of the visitor is like 80! So we passed after looking at it from the outside. We then headed to Pwllheli, another seaside town - under Cath's suggestion, but quickly turned around due to nothing more than some markets and it generally being a quiet seaside town.
For a little intellectual break we went to Llechwedd Slate Caverns. It ...
