We woke from our kind of sleep to stunning views from the windows as the train neared Villach and the Austrian Alps. We had realised that we were close to the Rosental valley, so decided that we should have a quick explore before finding a campsite with the aim of finding some tacky Rosental souvenir. Spectacular mountain views from the top of the Reisseckbahn. First take a three stage cable driven trains up an incredibly steep slope following a hydroelectric dam pipeline, then a tiny train through a tunnel under the mountain. ... just after midday and we were doing a 17 mile lap of the Ossiachersee so we really needed to crack on although we didn't start off too well with various things slowing us down, including a stop at the shop to pick up some sausage. It is an Austrian speciality after all and we do like a nice sausage, they have a very wide range to choose from and they are all good. We rode on and the girls were complaining of being hungry ...
