... shopping and had a roll for lunch. I guess there were about 30 people on board. We passed the docks and rounded Pendennis Point, on which there is a castle erected on the orders of Henry VIII. There were so many top class yachts cruising past. This was a money area. When we got down to the Helford River that was where the BIG money was. Homes ( mansions ) owned by millionaires - one of them the drummer from the band Queen. We also saw an area owned by ...

... height so that were were able to look straight across the dry harbour to "Doc Martin's Cottage". Of course Port Isaac is a working fishing village in the middle of nowhere, but since the Doc Martin production team started to use it for the fictional village of Port Wenn, it has drawn crowds from all over the world. Next stop was east through Helston and then south down the centre of the Lizard Peninsula to Lizard Point. We parked in the village which was full of tacky little shops and cafés . We didn't know whether you could drive further or whether you had to walk from here. All the other people seemed to be walking so we ...

... and then headed to the south coast and Penzance. Most shops were shut. We walked along the Causeway which was the main market street in olden days. We then found Chapel Street where the oldest buildings are to be found. This was quite interesting. And that was about it. On the whole Penzance doesn't really have much going for it. And there was not a pirate in sight. We got back to the cottage about 4.30 and I watched the French Open Men's final. We decided that we would go to ...
