Donna arrived safely in Bangkok from San Francisco and we boarded a flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia. It's where Angkor Wat (a temple complex built in the 12 century) is located. Kristen's flight from Kuala Lumpur was delayed, but we all found each other at the small airport. Siem Reap is a tourist town and the gateway to the massive temples in the area, as such there are plenty of food, lodging, shopping options. The city is improving its infrastructure and we were lucky enough to have gotten t...

Hei alle sammen. Hi to all. Those who do not read norwegian, scroll down for english text. Saa var det altsaa ut paa tur igjen. Er naa i Kambodsja. Alt i alt...

Angkor, wha?

And on to Siem Reap! For those not in the know, Siem Reap is the entrance town to the remarkable Angkor Wat. Or more correctly, the entrance town to the loads and loads of old Khmer temples and cities (of which Angkor Wat is the most spectacular) that litter the jungle around here. It's hard to describe these ruins. They're truely spectacular in scale and when this place was in its prime (from 9th Century AD to 12th Century) the place must have been awesome. Siem Reap as a town exists purely ...

Left Pattaya at 8am and traveled to the Cambodia Thai border by taxi. Arrived at border and man with crippled hand was pestering us asking if we needed taxi at the other side i kept ignoring him but stevie being stevie was very trusting and excepted him offer to take us to the hostel. The bloke did take us through the border with out a hitch except we got ripped off again because stevie started talking to a bloke and he sorted out the visas and we paid 1000baht each instead of the normal $20 ...

Bike Traffic Jams

Like the lazy cow that I am, I decided to delay my first exploration of Siem Reap during the day to sleep in till 11am. I hadn't been able to sleep the previous two nights so I figured I deserved it. The master plan was to head to the temples of Angkor early in the morning but I'll do that tomorrow. I'm pretty sure they're not going anywhere. So I scraped myself out of bed at some embarrassing hour, bought some water and borrowed a bike from my hostel (Earthwalkers... really good!). It took m...

... but it was pretty obvious I wasn't going to be well enough, so I ended up spending longer in Phonm Pehn, and then flying back to Bangkok for a few days before my flight home. <br><br>Didn't manage to see as much of Phonm Pehn as I would have liked. Made it to the Tuol Sleng Prison genocide museum - a school that was converted to a torture prison during the Khmer Rouge reign of terror.

... the river bank. I knew that I was still a bit upstream from where I came from and the easiest way to get downstream was to wade through the waste-deep water. I walked for quite a while before I finally saw a trail. I felt a wave of relief when I saw a few tourists hanging out by the waterfall. I got a few strange looks since I was soaking wet from the waste down. <br><br>After descending down the mountain and meeting up with Kim, my moto driver, we went to get ...
