Earthwalkers Cambodia Siem Reap

Donna arrived safely in Bangkok from San Francisco and we boarded a flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia. It's where Angkor Wat (a temple complex built in the 12 century) is located. Landet iPhnom Pehn tirsdag morgen ca. kl. 4 om natten norsk tid. Flyplassen i Phnom Pehn var fabelaktig effektiv. Nede i ankomsthallen satt det en masse med politibak en skranke. Saa var det bare aa levere pass og visumsoknad i ene enden av skranken og etter fem minutter fikk jeg passet tilbake med gyldig visum i andre enden av skranken. Alt i alt...

And on to Siem Reap! For those not in the know, Siem Reap is the entrance town to the remarkable Angkor Wat. Or more correctly, the entrance town to the loads and loads of old Khmer temples and cities (of which Angkor Wat is the most spectacular) that litter the jungle around here. It's hard to describe these ruins. They're truely spectacular in scale and when this place was in its prime (from 9th Century AD to 12th Century) the place must have been awesome. Left Pattaya at 8am and traveled to the Cambodia Thai border by taxi. Arrived at border and man with crippled hand was pestering us asking if we needed taxi at the other side i kept ignoring him but stevie being stevie was very trusting and excepted him offer to take us to the hostel. The bloke did take us through the border with out a hitch except we got ripped off again because stevie started talking to a bloke and he sorted out the visas and we paid 1000baht each instead of the normal $20 ...

Like the lazy cow that I am, I decided to delay my first exploration of Siem Reap during the day to sleep in till 11am. I hadn't been able to sleep the previous two nights so I figured I deserved it.
