We had an enjoyable few hours in the Gardens before the next part of our journey, Tisbury, another town pertinent to the Burt family especially the now Boot Inn, a 17th century pub where one of Mary's brothers was brought to trial during the "Swing Riots" & then sent to Australia ...
... tick on the list. By lunchtime we were in Salisbury for a look at the cathedral. It's a beautiful cathedral, but I liked the Bath Abbey more, the stained glass windows were amazing there. Korfe village was busy - a lovely hillside village with old stone houses. Some houses used for the touristy bit but some private residences too. There was even an "Enid Blyton" shop (she lived in the county) with memorabilia of that era and copies of the books. They were celebrating 70 years since the first publication of the Famous Five! ... it makes our picnics much more relaxing. No slapping to get rid of vampire bugs. And yes, we do seem to be doing a lot of picnicking. It's much cheaper and time efficient to do our hunting and gathering at the grocery stores, and who doesn't love eating outside?
