Island Hopping in Venice
... half hour, you have to wonder if this might be an economical decision to extract the $. After all, everybody had already either bought a ticket or travel pass.
By the time I reached F de Nuove, this time opting to walk from there instead of the long ride back, it was almost 6pm. It was interesting to wander this part of the island, and returned back to the hostel to meet new folks before we headed out to dinner and my first pizza in Italy. Yum!

Venice Wandering
... Oops. The island doesn't seem to have much excitement, even the main street - the Gran Viale was pretty quiet though it had a number of shops and eateries. I just couldn't imagine the film festival taking place here. Perhaps it was because I couldn't find the palazzo for movies. Maybe next time. Lido otherwise feels very residential and a good place to get away from most of the tourists.
Dinner I found my way back to a restaurant I saw earlier for cuttlefish ...
Mangiare, bellezza, 'amore
... and zucchini for lunch. We ate at 1pm while it hammered down rained outside. After lunch I napped, then got up, took a shower and left for dinner at Jean's cousin's house. WOW, that was a great dinner. Actually, all the food I have had since arriving has been great. Home cooking. Yummy! We ate pumpkin gnocchi, turkey and mashed potatoes. It was my Thanksgiving dinner in October! We drank good wine, ate chocolate salami for dessert and of course ...
Venice Day 1: Travel Day from Vernazza
... vowed to someday come back to this area for part two of “Trip of a Lifetime”. Caffe and Canals
... the types of finishes people can use on buildings, and no doubt affect the depth of colour, and there's always reflection off the water adding to the lightness of it all. I got my train ticket and got back on the boat to go to Rialto. I walked across the famous bridge and had a look around some of the streets, but then it started to rain! I was cold and getting wet, so back on the boat and back to the Lido for dinner and a good night's sleep.
