Today we experienced the horror of horrors- as we walked into the Colesseum, the battery went flat on my camera. OMG!! So I used my phone camera instead (whew!) but cannot work out how to upload onto the tablet, so you'll just have to wait till we get home to see them!

Anyway, it is all mind boggling to think of the size of the Colesseum and when it was built. And the carnage ...

... we get back. Off we go to the Colosseum! OMG...it is scorching hot here 36 degree celcius. Ok, parking was a bit of dilemma. We had no change and must've gone to a supermarket twice to get more change for our parking meter just outside of Via Claudia. "Ok, everyone wait in the air-conditioned car as I run to the corner store to buy water and get change.

... in Pope Alexanders apartments - he produced 6 children, one of the most famous being Lucrezia (Borgia), I couldn't help having visions of him chasing women around the room... lol

After the tour we found a fantastic little restaurant and had a platter of hams and salamis with mozzarella and rocket, washed down with ice cold beer, then a plate of cannelloni for mum and pasta carbonara for me. mmm... Viva Italia!

Met with Claire, bought supplies for picnic lunch and off to Ostia Antico. Ruins of old city that at one time was major trading port. Amazing ruins and beautiful mosaic floors to be found. Daylight saving ended ovenight and weather has turned colder. Found sheltered spot for lunch. Herded out like sheep by staff with whistles when it came to closing time. If visiting then allow yourself plenty of time as huge place to wander ...
