... find a way into the forest surrounding Clarement Burn that leads to the Bishop’s Wood and is ultimately in the direction I want to go.

A narrow tongue of woodland abuts the main road, so I jumped a wall and started on my way to the burn. Scottish woodland isn’t easy to walk through as it is covered by lush undergrowth that hides water filled hollows and fallen logs. ... muddy, very wet, and freezing cold. The path went around the headland and then came up and rejoined a nice wide, gravelled path that had gone over the top... now wouldn't it have been nice to have had some sort of indication at the fork??

But that's the worst of it over, surely, so on we go, cheerily remarking on the lovely views, the lovely cliffs, now why couldn't the Leuchars-to-St-Andrews bit have been like ...

... is one of a handful of curling Kerons in Scotland. It was great to get to know Ian a little bit and he was able to give us a few tips for our time here.
After dinner Ian was gracious enough to invite us back to his nearby home to meet his family and sample a wee dram. He also presented me with a few keepsakes including his home club pins and a shirt from his participation in the Strathcona Cup which involved he and a group of Scots curling their way across Canada.
