    ... the others had great views of Black Woodpecker. We went back to the hotel for breakfast, and as we were getting out of the car a Black woodpecker flew over! After breakfast we headed to Roy's village, about 5 miles from Eger. We walked through woods by the village wine cellars, mostly disused, but overnight rain made the track impassable.     ... woodpecker. We set off in Roy's battered VW Bora heading for the plains and the Hortobagy reserve. After about an hour we entered the reserve and went off road along a rough farm track, scanning the grassland on either side for bustards and enjoying the sight of huge flocks of cranes.
