... families as well as morose individuals making the most of the last of the autumn weather. By this time my feet were tired and walking along a beach in hiking boots alone isn’t much fun, so I returned along the track past all the campers parked over the dunes.

On the way, I stopped for an ice cream, and ended up ordering a hot chocolate and a chicken burger from a beach kiosk as I felt sorry for the guy as I was the only one there on a lovely (for Scotland) ...

... here because it's hard to admire the medieval architecture with all the clutter. We head out towards the coast where we see the ruined castle and then spend some time wandering around the cathedral area which is also in ruins. This building would have been quite something in its day. Consecrated in 1318 by Robert the Bruce, it was over 390 foot long and once Scotland's largest cathedral. ... good. But the information was good and clearly laid out, and we did enjoy a large topographical model of the Glen on which little LEDs would light up for the various things such as standing stones or cists or whatever. It certainly gave one a good sense of just how much there is of this ancient material.

... we got to the last step. Thankfully, we were only going downhill from here on out. On our way we encountered a street performer mid show. He had a little boy from the crowd try to throw an apple onto a bed of nails that he (the street performer) was holding. He didn't make it the first time (sad) but he did make it the second time (elation!). Everyone clapped and clapped, and then the street performer dismissed the boy (after giving him a fiver) and then prepared everyone for his ...
