Hugh: Our train arrived at 6:30am. We've had some breakfast and are updating the blog before deciding what to do. Ros: Well we decided what to do. Assisted by a hotel bed that was alive with bugs, extremely rude hotel staff who decided that my passport was fake and wanted to confiscate it and call the police (or, we reckoned, more likely extort money from us), we checked out 8 hours after we checked in and ran for a little coastal resort called Varkala not far away! Ok, so we wasted 440 rupee...
Trivandrum, India hobnob... couple of days we just chilled out at the beach all day, watched the sunsets and had dinner and drinks in the evening. The beach is really nice, not as nice as Goa but still cool and the waves were huge. The night life was not up to much but a very chilled out place and nice place to spend our last couple of days in India.
We both had a full body massage which was so relaxing and did a lot of shopping getting our last few souvenirs ...
... that they are toying with me, so I refuse and get back into the rickshaw. I go to the hotel next door, a run down building with men hanging outside. I talk with reception and he goes to call and discuss it with half a dozen people. Already wary of what is taking place, my attention is distracted by a large group of men stumbling out of the restaurant, completely drunk. They seem to be arguing and pushing ...
S. Bathery, Kerala, India sangria1269... India. By now I have become accustom to this country, though some things I find silly and strange. Like filling up cars full of people, anywhere from 10-15 people shoved in a car Some unfortunate souls do not even get a seat on top of someone, so they simply hang outside the cars, gripping for sheer life around the hairpin curves, coughing up exhaust. Some other things I have also learned is that every vehicle has been blessed with a God name written in cheerful ...
Calicut, Kerala, India sangria1269... is much better to drive. When the time struck around 5.30pm we were still driving and don’t know how many kilometers to sholiyar damn. Finally a road walker confirmed that it will take another ½ hr drive and no guarantee we can see water as the mist was moving very heavily and sunlight has already down for the day. We decided to give up, since we have to travel the same route and it is too complicated and afraid how we gonna cross those difficult bridges. I am not ...
Chennai - Valparai, Tamil Nādu, India vinu135Dear Beatriz:
To like somebody without loosing yourself control is such a mission impossible. To like, to appreciate, to enjoy the beauty of one another is such a passionate task in nature that being devoid of flare of emotion is just simply not a very logical thing in nature.
I have been trying very ***********trol my unbridled passion or compassion for any other person ...
... us to stand there stay here move there don’t move get on this bus here and before we knew it we were on a 2-3hour bus journey with no due alarm. We met a really nice couple of Dutch doctors also going to Varkala (who gave us the good advice ’not to be coy’ when the scrum to get on the bus started. Sage advice. Its every man for themselves in India. The English may have invented the queue but that didn’t stick around ...
... of western food- good for me as I was still not feeling so good and couldnt face the spice of Indian cuisine. There was lots of fresh seafood and Mark tried barbequed seerfish one evening which was very tasty, and we ate pizza- havent had that for about 4 months!
Most of the tourists in Varkala were western, and a good deal French actually. I have come to the conclusion that ...
... but all that did was expose my ****! I'm not suggesting for a minute that these guys gave me any different 'work-over' to the Indian guy in before me, but he may well be used to having his bum crack massaged by two men. I'M NOT! This was not a fun experience. It was an ordeal. An ordeal I paid for... When the worst 60 minutes of my life were eventually over, I was shown to the steam room. I say steam room, it was more of a box like torture contraption, that I was locked in ...
