We were glad to see the back of Kuala Lumpur. We enjoyed Bukit Bintang but the rest of the places we visited weren't what we expected and there wasn't much to do during our stay. We decided to head to the Perhentian islands which are just off of the east coast of Malaysia. The islands are very remote. To get there from KL we had to get a 8 hour coach and a 1 hour boat journey. The islands do not have any ATMs or public transport and wifi is scarce. We took a boat over to ...

... way, very tired as we had only managed about 3 hours sleep the night before.
To get to Kuala Besut, the island we were visiting in the Perhentian islands, we had to get a speedboat. I have never been on a speedboat before, and without sounding like I'm stating the obvious, my god they are fast! Pretty good fun if you try and imagine that you probably aren't going to get flipped out at 50 miles an hour and relax.
We could see the island as we approached it ...

Pretty unsuccessful and tired we walk back and that's the day done with, as we get back I ask Mr.Lee about times for the Perhentian Islands as the boats from the mainland only run a few times a day and how to get down there, he says he'll sort it all out for us and asks what time we would like breakfast. 9am Saturday and out we go for breakfast, I'm pretty sure it may be up there with one of our favourite breakfasts we've ...

... However, we were right to wait, the bus finally arrived at 6:30pm and costed us 6 RM instead of 60 by taxi. The ride was fast and the driver did not hesitate to pass cars and create a third way on the road! One hour after, we arrived in Khota Bharu and I checked in at BK Backpackers hostel which is recommended in the Lonely Planet. The place is very nice, clean and well managed. The dorm is at 10Rm which is a very good deal and the location is great, right over ...

... a lion(dragon) dance. Love it. Make our way to the speed boat, our new carry on escorted by a man smoking a cigarette on a mo ped. Jin manages to balance and manouvre on board one boat with the carry on only to be told to board the boat it's attached too. Boat hopping and no bag going over board we are off. The waves extremely choppy, more than a few thuds, the amusements ride comes to an end. We are ...
